Rose's boxes
The idea for Rose’s Boxes came to us while we were looking back on one of the lovely days we spent with Rose, doing footprints and handprints with paint. Although Rose was in intensive care, we were able to enjoy this simple activity - the three of us together. We felt like a ‘normal’ family, busy creating pictures for grandparents, and aunties and uncles - it was wonderful!
We also remembered the craft supplies in the hospital were limited, and finding out it was because the hospital relied on donations for them. As we talked through our memories of that day, and how important those activities had been for us, we both knew this was something we could help with and a great starting point for The Foundation’s work.
We started putting together our first Rose’s Boxes immediately. After a few deliveries to the hospital, of boxes filled to the brim with random craft supplies that were then distributed around the ICU, we decide we wanted a Rose’s Box to be personal gift to each family and contain a great range of activity options.
Now each Rose’s Box contains:
- Paint
- Card
- Notebook
- Glue stick
- Glitter
- Colouring pencils
- Sharpener
- Pipe cleaners
- Stickers
- Pompoms
- Colouring sheets
- And a handy box to keep all their memories in
A donation of just £15 will provide a Rose’s Box to a family who are spending time in hospital with their child. These boxes can also be donated in memory of a loved one.
